No, needles don't hurt. Most people feel almost nothing when the needles are inserted. Some people feel a slight tingling sensation.
It's normal to feel tired or relaxed after an acupuncture session. It is advisable to drink hot beverages and get plenty of rest.
Slight bleeding may occur once the needles have been removed. Simple pressure is all it takes to stop the bleeding. In the event of hematoma or ecchymosis, this will be absorbed automatically after 5 to 7 days, with no need for special treatment.
You may feel a sensation of swelling, heaviness or local cramping at the acupuncture points, as after a sports session. This is a normal phenomenon which usually disappears automatically after 2-3 days.
After an acupuncture session, don't swim, and avoid contact with unsafe water for two hours.
The frequency of treatment depends on your state of health.
In the most common cases, one session per week or every two weeks is sufficient. It can be longer. The spacing between sessions can vary, for the same patient, as his or her condition changes.
A chronic illness may require 10 sessions to achieve significant improvement.

If you have no particular pathology to treat, the ideal would be to have at least one session a year, or better still one at each change of season, to assess energy imbalances and correct them".
